I am

I am (2018) is i-dle's debut mini album, led by the moombahton track LATATA and written largely by leader Soyeon. It moves from seduction and swagger to a maze-like crush, a late-night text from an ex, and a closing ballad pleading to be heard. The vocabulary mixes obsession and confidence words with the everyday language of curiosity, break-ups and waiting.

멍청이	a fool, an idiot	그런 말에 속다니 나도 참 멍청이야.I'm such a fool for falling for that.
관심사	an interest, something one cares about	우리는 관심사가 비슷해서 금방 친해졌어요.We have similar interests, so we became close quickly.

어지럽다	to be dizzy	갑자기 일어났더니 좀 어지러워요.I stood up too fast and I'm a bit dizzy.
미로	a maze, a labyrinth	이 골목은 미로 같아서 길을 잃기 쉬워요.These alleys are like a maze, so it's easy to get lost.
오늘따라	today of all days, today in particular	오늘따라 커피가 유난히 쓰네요.The coffee tastes especially bitter today, of all days.
뒤척이다	to toss and turn	걱정이 많아서 밤새 뒤척였어요.I had so much on my mind that I tossed and turned all night.

설레다	to flutter with excitement, to feel one's heart race	첫 데이트 전날이라 너무 설레요.It's the night before our first date, and my heart is racing.
눈부시다	to be dazzling, to be blindingly bright	아침 햇살이 눈부셔서 커튼을 쳤어요.The morning sun was so bright that I drew the curtains.
감추다	to hide, to conceal	기쁜 마음을 감출 수가 없었어요.I couldn't hide how happy I was.
현관	the entryway, the front door of a home	신발은 현관에 벗어 두세요.Please leave your shoes in the entryway.

낯설다	to be unfamiliar, to feel strange	오랜만에 온 동네가 왠지 낯설어요.The neighborhood feels strangely unfamiliar after so long.
닮다	to resemble, to take after	저는 엄마를 많이 닮았어요.I take after my mom a lot.
간직하다	to keep, to treasure and hold on to	이 편지는 평생 간직할게요.I'll treasure this letter for the rest of my life.
제자리	one's original place, the same spot	다 쓴 물건은 제자리에 놓아 주세요.Please put things back where they belong when you're done.
